The Samsung Spinpoint M6 500GB is the first three-disk hard drive to
deliver a whopping halfterabyte capacity using the industry's most
sophisticated recording and mechanism technology. The Spinpoint M6's
design is truly revolutionary by fitting three disks within the industry's
standard 9.5mm Z-height. This is critical because it enables notebook
PC manufacturers to easily integrate the M6 into the tens of millions of
notebook PCs that ship every quarter. The M6 drive offers the
industry's largest capacity for premium notebook PCs, slim desktop
computers, and external hard drives.

Superior Performance

This SATA 3.0Gbps drive has 167GBs of formatted capacity per disk.
The Spinpoint M6 utilizes Samsung perpendicular recording technology,
enabling the drive to set new records in both areal density and platter
capacity.

The Spinpoint M6 hard drive features a 5400rpm spindle speed, 8MB
cache, and freefall sensor available as optional feature. The 500GB M6
drive can store approximately 160,000 digital images, 125 hours of
DVD movies, or 60 hours of high-definition video images. To improve
recording stability during dramatic temperature changes, the Spinpoint
M6 also features Samsung's Flying-on- Demand head technology.

Low Power and Low Acoustic Noise

Samsung's Spinpoint M6 500GB low power requirements are due to the
drive's proprietary printed circuit board electronics. Leveraging its
expertise in mechanism and firmware design, Samsung has minimized
acoustic noise in this drive.
